Burr

My feet and hands are cold.

New Castle

I just closed on the house. I am now a home owner for the third time in my life. This time with a fixed rate mortgage. And a damn fine monthly payment!

Incremental Marathon – Man Flu Leg

I believe I am delusional from the Man Flu because I ended up running after feeling exhausted from spoiling Tina.

Wiped

Okay, Tina made me* change her passenger side headlight, take the garbage and recycles down to the curb, and shovel the front sidewalk for the postal delivery person. Now I’m exhausted. I think I’m coming down with the Man Flu.

Commence Tina shouting “BULLSHIT” in 5, 4, 3,……..

*And no, she didn’t make me. I spoil her.

To Run or Not To Run?

Blah, blah, blah.
More than likely, I’ll run.

On a related note – my Fitbit is dying. Not the electronics, but the band. The plastic is once again separating from the watch section. And I have a model where you cannot replace the band. I already exchanged one Fitbit due to this very issue. However, this particular watch in well past the one year warranty. That’s fine, because I’ve been thinking of using my tax return to get an Apple Watch now that it’s heart rate monitor can sync with the Runtastic app.

Incremental Marathon – The Continuation

And Monday’s run was in the snow. That one hurt. Different muscles came into play because of the snow on the ground.

Two Planets One Species?

It appears earthworms may also be marsworms!

(Science Alert) Good news, aspiring Martian farmers! The soil composition of Mars oughtn’t hinder earthworm reproduction, if experiments here on Earth are any indication.

Using simulated Mars soil developed by NASA, researchers added rucola (also known as rocket or arugula) plants, manure fertiliser and earthworms – and found that not only did the worms thrive, but they’ve now produced their first offspring.

“Clearly the manure stimulated growth, especially in the Mars soil simulant, and we saw that the worms were active,” said lead researcher and biologist Wieger Wamelink of Wageningen University & Research in the Netherlands.

“However, the best surprise came at the end of the experiment when we found two young worms in the Mars soil simulant.”

This is good news for those future Mars colonists that want to go fishing in the canals.

Close Call!

I managed to read the last 10th of one chapter, the full next chapter, as well as watch two videos, ace my quiz (Yeah Me!) and get two posts in the discussion forum all within two hours. I made it with 9 minutes to spare. And the kicker? I never felt under pressure once.
