Pain

I can’t even begin to describe how badly my body hurts today. I can’t stand up straight. This is ridiculous. My Achilles heal all the way up to the small of my back is screaming in agony. And then there’s the left shoulder. It’s sending numbness all the way down to my finger tips.

When I stretch I hear dominos falling all the way along my spine.

Getting old really, really sucks. Especially when it allows the weather to effect me this badly.

Morning You All

Not really sure what to write. Just felt like tapping the keys on the board before getting into the shower.

I left work early yesterday because of an upset stomach that not only made me feel like I was going to vomit, but prevented me from taking the nap I so desperately wanted once I got home.

Now, it’s already humid as hell, with the promise of an absolute soaker of a day. Living on the St. Louis River at the point where it flows into Lake Superior has its advantages. Usually it’s anywhere from 10 to 15 degrees cooler than the rest of the region, with a breeze coming of the water. But I don’t think that’s going to be the case today.

Well, anyway, that’s enough for now. I’m going to hop in the shower and get ready for work. You all have a good day – unless you’ve made other plans.

Good Morning All

Just wanting to welcome you all to a wonderful Monday Morning! Wait. What’s that? Some of you hate Mondays? Huh. Didn’t know that was possible. Well, if that’s what you want to do, by all means, go ahead and hate. Don’t let me get in your way. I’ve made other plans.

Opps

Okay, so I ended up buying a portable air conditioner for the upstairs bedroom. It was always the plan anyway – spending the tax return money of 2015. And it was on sale. So, yeah, kerplunk! Oh, and I used Apple Pay on my iPhone, which was cool.

The Plan

This morning it’s shopping! I’m going to get into the shower pretty quick, then it’s off to Walmart, Whole Foods, and Super One. Hope the rest of you are having a wonderful time this Sunday Morning.

Heh!

No, really?

(Mother Jones) The team found that when fruit flies are fed regular doses of sucralose (brand name: Splenda) over an extended period, they consume 30 percent more calories (compared to sucralose-free control flies) when they they have access to naturally sweetened food. And when the team removed the sucralose, the effect vanished.

Because in the end Mother Nature is still supreme, no matter how much we try to chemically improve on her.

The Three Things From My Father

As I sit in front of my computer this morning after having completed a 3 mile run I am reminded of the three things given to my from my father.

The first thing is the reason for my running – my belly. I’ve been genetically blessed with my father’s side of the family’s gut. With the exception of Uncle Wendall, all my uncles have a gut. Most of my cousins too. Those that don’t, well let’s just say we’ve disowned them, the show offs.

The second thing is what’s happening right now as I type – I’m dripping sweat all down my body. It’s clinging to my eyebrows, running down my back in rivulets, and swamping on my sternum. I remember seeing my father sweat in the hot summer sun as he would work the fields, his t-shirt so soaking wet it clung to him like a second skin. I had that same problem this morning. It took a hell of a fight to get my t-shirt off.

The third thing? Probably the only thing I received from my father that is not impacting me because of my morning run – my hair. I still have a full head of hair. Though the hair strands themselves are thin, I’m not actually experiencing a thinning of my hair. Oh, and those of my father’s side of the family that have no belly but do have thinning hair? We’ve let them back into the family.

Anyway, that’s what I was reminded of this morning.

Lazy Sunday

Well, so far. I’m waiting on my blue cheese burger to finish frying. Also, finished watching “Ocean’s 13.” Great, mindless, entertainment. Light and breezy movie. Watched the first two on TNT last night.

Next is “Second Hand Lions” because Tina’s been trying to get me to watch it for weeks now. Not that I didn’t want to, mind you. But, well, finally in the mood, I guess.

Okay, burger is done, with a bowl of fresh fruit! Now for the movie.

Going On Our Walk

Tina and I are now going to drop her van off at the parking lot on Beck’s Road for the Munger Trail. The plan is to walk from our house to the van via the trail. It’s just over 4 miles. So, talk at you later!

What To Have?

Was debating in my head what to eat for lunch. Actually, what to snack on for lunch as I had a late breakfast. Anyway, I decided on a bowl of Sugar Puffed Wheat. It will tide me over until after our walk, when the blue cheese hamburgers are going to be fried.
